Off of a routine is hard!

Summer is hard to stay on a routine!  That is the biggest excuse I get during the summer time.  Do you ever use that one?  Krista is about to go on a one week vacation and will really be off of her routine.  I know and trust that Krista will do great while she is on her vacation!

She has the knowlege and education on how to eat in the moderation and the right portion sizes.  AND what to eat!  She will have a plan to follow for exercising that I will go over with her before she leaves.

THE KEY:  Will be for her to stay committed to herself that she will stay living a healthy lifestyle while on vacation!!!  AND when she gets back and the stress starts to come back of reality!

ANYBODY CAN GET OFF OF THEIR ROUTINE AND SCHEDULE BUT IT IS UP TO YOU TO GET BACK ON!!!

So if you are using your vacation or getting off of your routine as an excuse for not living a healthy life- STOP!  Plan out your week and do it!

In health,

Tonya

Getting Stronger.....Mentally & Physically!

7.15.10

Today, I had my weekly "hardcore" workout with Tonya. I got up and ran 4 miles this morning and then met her at 1:30 in the afternoon. Yes, it was hot (NOT dangerously hot as we would not have done the workout) but I was drained and exhausted quicker. My workout was easier than day 1, but it was still very, very tough! I know I've made lots of progress but still have a long way to go. What I do know is that I am stronger, more confident and deal with my emotions and stress differently. As many of you know I am training to run a half marathon August 14th. On sunday I will run 9 miles as part of my training - Are any of you planning to run in August or run the one on 10.10.10? I hope some of you who are thinking of doing it, will do it! If I can do this, really, anyone can! Anyone who is ready to CONSISTENTLY commit to the HARD WORK that it takes!

Lab Results Are In!

7.13.10

I went to my regular doctor today to get the results of my lab work. My lab came back great, including my thyroid, except my good cholesterol or HDL. It was 30 and should be greater than 50. Basically, it should get higher as I am exercising and eating well. My OBGYN has told me in the last year that I have PCOS, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I am just now researching more about this but have been told that it is harder for women, who have PCOS, to lose weight - even when eating right and exercising. Not Fair!!! But, this could be the reason why my pounds aren't dropping as fast as they should, considering all that I am doing. My plan, is to continue exercising, eating right and let my body do what it needs to do. I want to lose the weight, as my BMI would go down, however - I'm not going to focus on the number. Losing inches, body fat, feeling great, clothes fitting better and getting my good cholesterol up will make me happy. Please let me know if any of you have had problems and what you did or are doing to correct the problem!

One Month Down.....The Rest Of My Life To Go!

7.11.10

Tonya and I met this morning to weigh, measure, take pics etc. Today is one month for my Mom On A Mission Challenge! Tonya decided to wait and weigh me later in the week, since I was on my period. I know after she measured me I lost .25 inches in my waist. I'm happy with that, but I would like to see more and faster results. I know it takes time. In one months time I've lost 9 total inches, 4% on body fat and gained 2% muscle - Not Bad! Back in June, Tonya and I had our first meeting. During that meeting we set 1 month, 2 month goals and so on. So, we reevaluated them today. My one month goal was to not cheat at all with my nutrition, eat less red meat and more chicken and turkey. I have done VERY well with this goal! I've been in a few social/family gatherings where there was a lot of food and drinks. It is VERY hard - but I did not cheat. Now, I have had a little hummas with carrots, some guacamole on my hamburger pattie and have eaten some "allowed" carbs before long run days. I'm in hopes that after 2 months I can start making recipes and adding in more foods (Tonya will direct me when she thinks I am ready). My 2 month goal was to consistently workout 6 days a week. Well I've definitely accomplished that goal - some weeks I workout 7 days a week. So, I've changed my 2 month gloal to be able to run 10-12 miles without stopping and to never be in the 170lb range again (I'm almost there)! Also, I had wrote down negative people/situations that would hold me back from getting to any of my goals. I was able to cross those items off the list that I've delt with or obstacles that I've put to the wayside, knowing that I will not let it effect my eating or excercise. It felt very good to cross items off my list. Now, there are still some things on my list - it is a work in progress! I feel really good with my progress in one month. I am VERY positive and excited to see where I will be on 10.10.10 - of course, that is when my Mom On A Mission Journey will end - However, it will just be the beginning of the rest of my life!

8 Mile Run - I Did It!!!

7.10.10

I can't believe I Did it!!! I ran 8 miles without stopping this morning. The last two miles were very, very hard but I kept going! After 6 miles I was at the corner of 29th and Rock, so I ran into our boutique (Rylee & Reece) - still jogging even at this point - and my mom gave me a cold rag to wipe on may face and neck - thanks mom! Then as I rounded the corner at 29th and Webb for my last mile I started getting chills and goose bumps on my legs - it was the wierdest thing ever. I was so happy that when I called Tonya to tell her I had finished I was crying happy tears, or exhausted ones I'm not sure! On a VERY personal note, I got home from my run and realized I had started my period. I have not blogged about my hormonal battle yet - but need to now. This is a huge deal that I started because I haven't had my period (without doctors starting it) in a year. My OBGYN has monitored me during the last year - and lets just say I've been all messed up. The doctor was about to start my period again, with medicine, (he has started it for me twice in the past year) but I'm happy to say that won't have to happen. I did do lab tests last week and I go see my regular doctor Tuesday to get the results. So, with all of this said - we have been a little suprised that will all I've done the pounds are not coming off quickly. So, hormonally I may have more of a problem. We will know soon - hopefully! I know losing the inches, pounds, body fat and gaining the muscle - I feel this is what my body needed to have a cycle. I will be resting today as I will meet with Tonya tomorrow to do pictures, measurements and stats. Tomorrow will be one month - Boy, do I feel GREAT!

The First Workout With Tonya

The Journey

"When are you due?" This is a question I've been asked too many times....and I'm NOT Pregnant. I don't like the way I look, the way I feel and I'm going to do something different for myself, for my family, for my daughter who watches and looks up to me. -Krista Hunt

Many women across the country are stuck in an unhealthy rut that they would love to change. In today's society, with the pressures of work, family and juggling everyday life, a person's health becomes last on their "checklist," leading them down a path of unhealthy living. Local business owner, Krista Hunt will take a four month journey with local fitness trainer, Tonya Wells to help transform her chaotic life, inside and out. Her goal is to lose 45 lbs. and run/walk a full marathon on 10.10.10 (Prairie Fire Marathon). In weekly training sessions, Tonya will push Krista outside her comfort zone, getting to the root of the issues in her life which affected her health and happiness. The introduction of new exercises and eating habits will help give Krista the tools for an emotionally and physically healthier lifestyle.
