I Made It To 10 Miles....Very Painful Though!
7.25.10
Tonya and I ran 10 miles this morning. I felt good, was running a good pace and even talked to Tonya a little (as I usually listen and don't talk since I'm trying to concentrate on my breathing etc). I had to use the bathroom three times, that gets a little frustrating! Everything was good until my toes went numb - AGAIN! Urrrrggggg - I'm so frustrated with this. On my short run days they go numb but not that bad. On the long run days it gets worse with the more miles I keep adding on. After 6 miles we walked a little and I stretched them in my shoes, as I do often while running. By the 8th/9th mile my feet were so numb it was painful. I do not know what to do - Any Advice???? My plan this Saturday, when I do 11 miles, is to stop after mile 6 - take off my shoes and stretch my feet real good and hopefully that will get me to the end.

Tonya Weighed & Measured Me Today...YEAH!
07.24.10
Tonya weighed me today and I lost 2 more pounds, another 2.25 inches and my body fat and BMI are going down and my muscle is going up, a little. I am very proud and excited to hear these results. Tomorrow I will run 10 miles - I feel I am as prepared as I can possibly be. I just got new shoes - I hope and pray I like them. It is a new brand. My toes would always go numb in my old shoes - I would always have to run with my toes curled up to help stretch them as I go. If any of you have this same problem - please let me know what you did to help it out. My shoes are a size bigger, they are a wide, I don't tie them tight, my old shoes and new ones were professionally fit, etc. etc. etc - I don't know why they go numb! It's very frustrating! Anyway, excited to do 10 miles and then on Monday I will start my 7th week being on this journey. YEAH!!!

Only Three More "Long" Runs Until The Big Day!
7.18.10
I did it - I ran 9 miles this morning. It was the hardest yet. At 6 miles, I had to go to the bathroom bad. I hate that when that happens:) So, I went to the bathroom at a gas station and continued on with 3 more miles. Those last 3 were very hard. It felt like my legs wouldn't go anymore. This time I got chills early, like around 4 miles - so wierd! I ran 4 miles twice during the week and that never happens. Anyway, I plan to rest and stretch today. Only three more "long" runs until the big day - August 14th (Half Marathon). I'm soooo nervous - I just keep telling myself I can do this!

Off of a routine is hard!
Summer is hard to stay on a routine! That is the biggest excuse I get during the summer time. Do you ever use that one? Krista is about to go on a one week vacation and will really be off of her routine. I know and trust that Krista will do great while she is on her vacation!
She has the knowlege and education on how to eat in the moderation and the right portion sizes. AND what to eat! She will have a plan to follow for exercising that I will go over with her before she leaves.
THE KEY: Will be for her to stay committed to herself that she will stay living a healthy lifestyle while on vacation!!! AND when she gets back and the stress starts to come back of reality!
ANYBODY CAN GET OFF OF THEIR ROUTINE AND SCHEDULE BUT IT IS UP TO YOU TO GET BACK ON!!!
So if you are using your vacation or getting off of your routine as an excuse for not living a healthy life- STOP! Plan out your week and do it!
In health,
Tonya
Brutal Beginnings!

Getting Stronger.....Mentally & Physically!
7.15.10
Today, I had my weekly "hardcore" workout with Tonya. I got up and ran 4 miles this morning and then met her at 1:30 in the afternoon. Yes, it was hot (NOT dangerously hot as we would not have done the workout) but I was drained and exhausted quicker. My workout was easier than day 1, but it was still very, very tough! I know I've made lots of progress but still have a long way to go. What I do know is that I am stronger, more confident and deal with my emotions and stress differently. As many of you know I am training to run a half marathon August 14th. On sunday I will run 9 miles as part of my training - Are any of you planning to run in August or run the one on 10.10.10? I hope some of you who are thinking of doing it, will do it! If I can do this, really, anyone can! Anyone who is ready to CONSISTENTLY commit to the HARD WORK that it takes!

The Journey
Many women across the country are stuck in an unhealthy rut that they would love to change. In today's society, with the pressures of work, family and juggling everyday life, a person's health becomes last on their "checklist," leading them down a path of unhealthy living. Local business owner, Krista Hunt will take a four month journey with local fitness trainer, Tonya Wells to help transform her chaotic life, inside and out. Her goal is to lose 45 lbs. and run/walk a full marathon on 10.10.10 (Prairie Fire Marathon). In weekly training sessions, Tonya will push Krista outside her comfort zone, getting to the root of the issues in her life which affected her health and happiness. The introduction of new exercises and eating habits will help give Krista the tools for an emotionally and physically healthier lifestyle.
