3 mile Run

6.15.10

I got up at 5:15 this morning to meet Tonya at 6am to go running. I was a little nervous, since we were going to run 3 miles. I have not ran since last summer. I was up to 7 miles in August 09, and haven't worked out or ran since then (except for two weeks in April when once again I didn't stick to it.) After stretching and our warm-up walk we were off. I couldn't believe that I never stopped once. It felt great to be running again - and I forgot how much I love running outside. On the way home I had my windows down and I was singing loud to music - I just felt soooo good! When the workouts get tough I just have to remind myself that in time there will be great rewards. Right now I'm feeling great and soon will be looking great - I CAN'T WAIT!!!

First Workout With Tonya

6.14.10

I was very nervous for this day to arrive - AND I should've been. Tonya was so right when she said, "You've entered Hell." The first thing she told me do was 500 jumping jacks while pushing a body bar over my head. Of course, I didn't get to 500 (but it was in the hundreds) when she made me run up a hill. All the way down the hill I felt my wobbly legs and thought for sure I was going to fall down (at that point I wanted to fall and end this whole thing). I almost called it quits and then I looked at pictures of my two children, Rylee and Reece. Not only am I doing this for myself, but my husband and children deserve all of me in the most healthiest state. They are my inspiration and when I think I can't make it any longer I know they will push me to the end! While the physical part was painful, the emotional part was unbearable. Emotional Eating - I've never really thought about it, and Tonya drug it out of me. After a lot of crying, yelling, puking (only water because I had nothing in my stomach at the time) and running a mile (4 different times) up a hill I felt INCREDIBLE! As Tonya and I were standing at the top of the hill she told me look down and know that I deserve to be on top of the world. I need to have control over my weight, my food and any negative people holding me back. As tears were running down my face I knew this journey was going to be long and tough, but it was definitely MY TIME to be on top of the world!

Blog #1 - First Meeting With Tonya

6.12.10

I was very excited, and scared, when Tonya and I discussed doing this challenge - "Mom On A Mission: Losing It With Tonya." I was excited to finally put myself back on the list and have a great trainer help me lose 45 pounds. However, I was VERY scared because I knew this journey would be tough and I knew Tonya would be extremely tough. After all the outlines, schedules, nutritional plan and emotional eating exercise it was a Done Deal..............I Am On A Mission! Now, it is time for me to wait until Monday to have my first workout with Tonya - I just keep telling myself, I can do this, I can do this, I CAN do this!

What is Wichita Mom on a Mission?

Welcome to the Wichita Mom on a Mission blog!

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Tonya Wells, a mother, wife, friend, personal trainer/group fitness instructor, business owner, runner/triathlete, etc.  I have a lot on my plate but my TRUE passion is to help others lead a healthier life for themselves and their families!

That is what this journey (Mom on a Mission) is all about...creating a healthier lifestyle physcially, emotionally, mentally, and spirtually!

I have always enjoyed the show the Biggest Loser and have had great respect for the trainer, Jillian.  I know what you may be thinking!  She is SO mean!  Well, yes she is BUT she gets to the root of the issue of her clients weight gain.  She peels back the layers of the onion and gets to the root of the issue.  Before the show came on the air I knew as a personal trainer that was my job.  To help my clients in every way to get their weight off.  And the issue majority of the time is not just about weight.  There is so much more!

This is what Krista is learning.  That the stress of life and not dealing with different issues in her life has lead her to eat, feel tired, therefore not having energy to workout therefore gaining weight.

Exercise and eating healthy will make you feel better, have more energy, sleep better, lose weight, tone, lose inches, etc.  It is the wonder drug!  But doing all of this takes getting down to the core (and this is where most usually get scared and don't do it).  Even though the outcome has no negative benefits (only positive)!  This is where I will come in to help Krista (free of charge) with her journey!

Krista's 4 month journey began last week when I approached her about going on this journey.  Right then and there she went through a lot of emotions (am I ready?, all my info will be public!, I am so scared!, etc).  Then she talked to her husband about it and asked for support (having a support system is very important).  After she said yes, I had her put each and everyday (minute by minute) on paper for me.  Then we met for her "Last Chance Workout" with me.  You can view video and pictures to see what Krista went through emotionally and physcially.
She now is going to keep two journals, one through blogging and a more personal journal. Workout 6 days a week and train for her very first marathon (Oct.10th, 2010)!!!  We are also going through her kitchen, going to the store, and getting about 40-50 recipes ready for her to cook for her family!

I am so exctied for Krista not only to lose 45 pounds and run her first marathon but for her and her family to live a healthier life.

I hope you enjoy following Krista's journey and learning some tips a long the way!

Happy reading,

Tonya

The First Workout With Tonya

The Journey

"When are you due?" This is a question I've been asked too many times....and I'm NOT Pregnant. I don't like the way I look, the way I feel and I'm going to do something different for myself, for my family, for my daughter who watches and looks up to me. -Krista Hunt

Many women across the country are stuck in an unhealthy rut that they would love to change. In today's society, with the pressures of work, family and juggling everyday life, a person's health becomes last on their "checklist," leading them down a path of unhealthy living. Local business owner, Krista Hunt will take a four month journey with local fitness trainer, Tonya Wells to help transform her chaotic life, inside and out. Her goal is to lose 45 lbs. and run/walk a full marathon on 10.10.10 (Prairie Fire Marathon). In weekly training sessions, Tonya will push Krista outside her comfort zone, getting to the root of the issues in her life which affected her health and happiness. The introduction of new exercises and eating habits will help give Krista the tools for an emotionally and physically healthier lifestyle.
