Surprising Krista at the gym...

It was great to see the look on Krista's face when I surprised her at the gym today at 6:30am!!!  She had no idea I would be there!  I saw her on the treadmill and ran up beside her.  I am so glad she did not fall of the treadmill when I surprised her.  She was reading Jillian's new book!
Of course I had to make her speed a little faster- wasn't quiet going fast enough!:)  I promise you can always push yourself a little more!!!

Krista is doing great!  She has a 3.5 mile run tomorrow!  A cross training day on Wed. and then a 3.5 mile run and workout with me on Thursday!  She has been nothing but dedicated!  She even had an anniversary party to attend on Sat. evening and did not give in.  She was tempted with a lot of unhealthy food and drinks but stood her ground and respected herself!  I am so proud to hear that she was getting compliments on how she was glowing and positive feedback about her life long journey!

Keep it up Krista!  You are doing great!  I am so proud of you!!!

My Naked Pantry!

6.25.10

Tonya came over this evening and NOW my pantry is Naked! We went through my pantry and got rid of all the bad, unhealthy processed foods. For instance, no more white bread, pasta shells (unless whole wheat), NO MORE chips, juice (even if it's for the kids - it's totally unhealthy for them as well), canned foods like cream of mushroom/chicken (I knew this was going to be a big no,no - but I know most of you have all of this in your pantry too). Not me anymore - and I feel good about it. On the other hand, it has been harder for my husband and kids to adapt to all MY changes. I say my changes, because even though we are in this together, we didn't get here overnight. I made a decision for myself and had to change overnight. It will take them longer, but I think they will see - The positive changes will be a GOOD impact on our family. Going to bed as I gear up for a 6 mile run in the morning...........a little nervous as I tried 5 miles last Sunday and did not do good at all. I ran 3 miles, walked .5 mile ran, walked etc......being positive....tomorrow will be a good run day!

Good Run, Bad Scale!

6.24.10

I met Tonya to run 3 miles at 6am. Before we started she weighed me. I was so FRUSTRATED to know I had only lost 3 pounds. WHAT????? After all this hard work, 3 pounds, really??? The good news is that I dropped 2% of body fat and gained 1% of muscle and my viseral fat (fat surrounding your organs) had dropped a whole point - Tonya, and I were very pleased to see these results. My run was great - I felt awesome! I jogged the whole 3 miles, did not stop and felt like I could run more (which is good since I have to run 6 miles on Saturday). Many of you are probably wondering what my meal plan is. Since I started this process (6.14.10) I've been on the Fat Flush Smoothie Shakedown, by Ann Louise Gittleman, PhD, CNS (for only 2 weeks as a jumpstart). Basically, I have a shake for breakfast, 4-6 oz. of meat along with veggies and a shake for dinner. I can have 1 cup of recommended fruit or another shake as a snack. I have stuck to my workouts and meal plan for 10 days and that's why it is so shocking that I only lost 3 pounds. Well, I'm not going to focus on the numbers, like Tonya says, "You're not defined by a number."

Consistency is KEY!!!

Good for you if you are sticking with a workout and eating program that works for you!  That is very important!  To find something that you enjoy doing and stick with it!  That is how you will see results.

I know there are going to be times where you get frustrated and want to give up...but don't!  It is hard work to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle.

Krista and I were just talking today because she is frustrated with the scale but I told her EVERYONE has to work at having a healthy life!  Even healthy people.  I do everyday.  If you fall one day...don't beat yourself up!  Write it down in a journal and the next day pick yourself up and start again.

You WILL see results if you just keep going!  I promise!  Don't give up...because who are you really giving up on...YOU!!!  Is that how you want to go through life?  Always quitting when it gets tough?  NO!!!  So don't give up on yourself!  You are done, right now!  Start today...you owe yourself that.  And when it gets tough remember CONSISTENCY IS KEY!  That is how you will see results and live a healthier life!!!

In health and fitness,

Tonya

3 mile Run

6.15.10

I got up at 5:15 this morning to meet Tonya at 6am to go running. I was a little nervous, since we were going to run 3 miles. I have not ran since last summer. I was up to 7 miles in August 09, and haven't worked out or ran since then (except for two weeks in April when once again I didn't stick to it.) After stretching and our warm-up walk we were off. I couldn't believe that I never stopped once. It felt great to be running again - and I forgot how much I love running outside. On the way home I had my windows down and I was singing loud to music - I just felt soooo good! When the workouts get tough I just have to remind myself that in time there will be great rewards. Right now I'm feeling great and soon will be looking great - I CAN'T WAIT!!!

First Workout With Tonya

6.14.10

I was very nervous for this day to arrive - AND I should've been. Tonya was so right when she said, "You've entered Hell." The first thing she told me do was 500 jumping jacks while pushing a body bar over my head. Of course, I didn't get to 500 (but it was in the hundreds) when she made me run up a hill. All the way down the hill I felt my wobbly legs and thought for sure I was going to fall down (at that point I wanted to fall and end this whole thing). I almost called it quits and then I looked at pictures of my two children, Rylee and Reece. Not only am I doing this for myself, but my husband and children deserve all of me in the most healthiest state. They are my inspiration and when I think I can't make it any longer I know they will push me to the end! While the physical part was painful, the emotional part was unbearable. Emotional Eating - I've never really thought about it, and Tonya drug it out of me. After a lot of crying, yelling, puking (only water because I had nothing in my stomach at the time) and running a mile (4 different times) up a hill I felt INCREDIBLE! As Tonya and I were standing at the top of the hill she told me look down and know that I deserve to be on top of the world. I need to have control over my weight, my food and any negative people holding me back. As tears were running down my face I knew this journey was going to be long and tough, but it was definitely MY TIME to be on top of the world!

The First Workout With Tonya

The Journey

"When are you due?" This is a question I've been asked too many times....and I'm NOT Pregnant. I don't like the way I look, the way I feel and I'm going to do something different for myself, for my family, for my daughter who watches and looks up to me. -Krista Hunt

Many women across the country are stuck in an unhealthy rut that they would love to change. In today's society, with the pressures of work, family and juggling everyday life, a person's health becomes last on their "checklist," leading them down a path of unhealthy living. Local business owner, Krista Hunt will take a four month journey with local fitness trainer, Tonya Wells to help transform her chaotic life, inside and out. Her goal is to lose 45 lbs. and run/walk a full marathon on 10.10.10 (Prairie Fire Marathon). In weekly training sessions, Tonya will push Krista outside her comfort zone, getting to the root of the issues in her life which affected her health and happiness. The introduction of new exercises and eating habits will help give Krista the tools for an emotionally and physically healthier lifestyle.
